My wife, Kate, has rather bravely put her self forward to join a team of cyclists riding from Lands End to John O Groats covering over 1000 miles in 10 days in September to raise money for Mac Millan Cancer Support. The team of 12 fathers had been training for some time and going into local schools to drum up support. One of our daughter’s friends asked why no mothers were attempting the ride and when Kate heard this she thought she should rise to the challenge to represent the girls!
Details of the team and the ride can be viewed at http://www.facebook.com/TheUKsLongestBikeRide2012. The team have set a rather ambitious target of raising £100,000, with each rider having a personal fundraising target of £3,000. They are also looking for corporate sponsorship for the ride, either for the whole journey or for specific sections of the route. They will be wearing branded outfits and travelling in a convoy with a 20m long advertising board ahead of them so will have a high visual presence!
If you would like to sponsor Kate for this worthy cause and great challenge you can do so at www.justgiving.com/kate-fischer. If you think your company might be interested in sponsoring a section of the route then please let me know.
