I am able to purchase items that would not normally be available to me in my local area and I benefit from a huge range of products at low prices. But I am aware that my gleeful receipt of my latest package has a cost to society: the gradual erosion of local shops.
Amazon recently revealed that it intends to improve on its next day delivery service and deliver items to people on the same day of order. Now there will be no more waiting: one of the largest selections of products in the world available to you wherever you are and whenever it is convenient. As more and more people get comfortable with living in a virtual world, the real world will start to suffer. This will have wide reaching impacts across society as the concept of physical location becomes increasingly irrelevant.
